Thanet Coast MCZ

Site Overview

The Thanet Coast MCZ is located on the north Kent coastline and covers an area of 64km stretching from Herne Bay to Ramsgate. The site contains one of the largest areas of underwater chalk in the UK which are home to unique algal species. The best examples of mixed living blue mussel and ross worm reefs are also found within the MCZ as well as rare species of stalked jellyfish.
